chitosan is a food additive that is produced from the shells of shellfish (crabs, shrimp), i.e. it is a “natural product”.

Chitosan is a kind of fiber itself contains no calories, as it is not dissolved and is not digested in the human gut. Once in the gastrointestinal tract, it turns into a jelly-like substance having a high lipophilicity (ability to bind fat) and like a sponge absorbing the fat, one gram of chitosan binds to seven grams of fat. Chitosan molecules are positively charged, and fat – negative. Under the action of forces of attraction of oppositely electrically charged particles, the fat received with food eaten by you, forms with chitosan insoluble complex that is not absorbed and excreted, i.e. passes through the gastrointestinal tract transit.
